Hot Yoga Instructors

Rachel Horwitz

I began practicing Bikram yoga several years ago through the recommendation of a close friend.  I was intrigued and curious about the yoga after my first class.  I could not believe that I made it through the entire 90 minutes.  I felt good!  No, I felt amazing!!  I felt on top of the world after my first class and knew this practice would be a part of my life going forward.

When I first began practicing I was working in the fashion and design industry which I ABSOLUTELY LOVED.  I had so much stress and knew right away Bikram yoga would be a great stress-management tool.  I was right!  My decision to become a Bikram instructor was inspired through the teachers from whom I took class.  I wanted to help others discover the same excitement I felt after class and knew that I could be a source of encouragement to others and realized my purpose for this world.  After I graduated training I headed up north to be mentored under one of the greatest instructors I have ever taken class from.  My mentor, who has owned 3 studios, has been teaching over 30 years and who guided me through endless training courses, has been one of my biggest sources of inspiration.

The students and instructors at Hot Yoga Agoura make this studio stand out and I am so thankful to have such an amazing team.  I am honored to be of service to the same community I grew up in, Agoura Hills, and grateful to be able to provide a special sanctuary which is the vibe you get the second you walk in the door.  I love this studio and am extremely humbled every day I arrive to class.

Mark C. Reis

Mark received his Bikram Yoga certification in the Spring of 2000, and has been actively teaching and practicing ever since.  Mark is extremely passionate about the practice and enjoys working with students who show up, trust, listen, put forth good effort, are willing to work hard, show good respect, and find the value in making the yoga an important part of their routine in maintaining good overall health.  A Broadway dancer and performer, Mark knows the importance of keeping the body in good shape and functioning well.  The Bikram practice has been a very important part of Mark's life in other ways as well.  Helping him achieve goals such as creating 3 one man shows, writing and self publishing his own children's book, and most important of all, working through the process of adoption with his partner in being able to create their family with their now 7 year son Bodhi.  Mark is proud to be a part of the Agoura Hills teaching staff and looks forward to meeting you in class!

Sachie Yoshitake

I took my Bikram Yoga training in the Fall of 2006.  I have been teaching since November 2006. Since becoming a full time teacher in 2008, I have been practicing Bikram yoga with my teacher and mentor, Emmy Cleaves, who is a principle teacher of Bikram Yoga.  Through learning from her and my own experience of yoga, I am totally fascinated with how yoga works, how amazing the healing power it has on the human body, and the wisdom of what it teaches through practice.  My mantra of life is true happiness through self-realization. One can take control of their body and their life if you know how to use what you have.  I would like to help people to live healthier and fuller lives using yoga.

Nick Votto

I began practicing Bikram Yoga in 1997 after several injuries from outdoor sports.  I am an avid surfer and I knew I need to find something other than physical therapy to help heal my injuries as physical therapy was not assisting me in recovery.  I found Bikram Yoga one day when I was walking down the street headed to a friends house.  I stopped in the studio and came back the next day for class.  I graduated the official Bikram training in 1998 and have been practicing and teaching ever since.  I have studied extensively with Emmy Cleaves and also teach the Bikram advanced class at Hot Yoga Agoura.  This is by far my favorite studio and I have traveled all over the world.  The community at Hot Yoga Agoura is unique and the growth of the students is one of my favorite things to witness.  Whether you are brand new to Yoga or a long time practitioner, you will feel right at home at the Hot Yoga Agoura studio.

Charmaline Arvin

Charmaline Arvin, is a certified Bikram yoga instructor, Energy Healer, and Vedic Counselor. She’s on a mission of promoting mental and physical wellness through yoga, energy healing, and Ayurveda. Charm became inspired by the realization that the integration of these three sciences was the perfect recipe for the most comprehensive and powerful healing.

In 2007, driven by her love for yoga, Charm traveled to Hawaii from her hometown of Singapore to complete the intense, 9-week, Bikram Yoga teacher certification program. She then landed in Kentucky where she began her journey to, "inspire the West with the spirit of the East". She happily calls L.A. home now and she's been teaching Bikram yoga with passion to people of all age groups in various yoga studios across the country for over 10 years.

Her focus in yoga is to teach her students proper alignment, breathing techniques, and the benefits of each posture. Her students come to realize how Bikram Yoga is a uniquely designed moving meditation. She always encourages them to practice their yoga regularly. She says “it’s a life journey that nourishes and keeps the mind, body, and spirit in balance”.

Bryan Crawford

I spent the better portion of my adult life performing, first traveling the world on cruise ships, then based in New York doing musical theater. On my last National tour with "Hairspray," I worked and became friends with John Salvatore, who is not only a great performer and great guy but is one of the most liked senior teachers in the Bikram world. I started taking John's classes in New York and never once in those early months did I EVER think I would be a teacher! After a move to L.A. and a few years of practicing the time seemed right. Fall of 2010 I went to teacher training in San Diego and I've been teaching full time ever since.

Marissa Rullen

I completed my 200hr teacher training from Shana Meyereson’s Yoga Alliance certified YOGAthletica Vinyasa course. My teaching style is very much alignment informed with the goal of healthy posture and practice in mind.

The moment I started practicing yoga, I instantly fell in love and became obsessed. Initially I began practicing to help strengthen my posture and undo the effects of a hard day on my feet. I was pleasantly surprised to find that not only did practicing yoga help to improve my strength and flexibility, but yoga has also had such an incredible effect on my mind as well. I discovered how yoga can take me places I simply can’t walk to. I want to share my love for yoga with as many people as possible with the hopes that my students will benefit both body and mind as I have.

Ryan Snyder

Yoga and fitness are a way of life for me. I fell in love with Bikram Yoga over a decade ago and graduated from BYTT 2009.  I currently teach in Los Angeles, CA but have taught in Spain, Thailand and Indonesia. I have also studied with Emmy Cleaves and have practiced the advanced series with her every opportunity I have had. I strive to share my love of this practice with my students.

Yoga is a perfect fit for my commitment to a healthy and peaceful mind and body.  For me, Yoga is a safe harbor and important counter-balance to my practice as a trial lawyer.  Yoga, especially hot yoga, restores energy, reduces stress, and opens the path to clear thinking.  I believe that the creation and flow of energy is a two-way street, and teaching yoga allows me to share my energy and passion for yoga with the wonderful community of yoga practitioners at Agoura Hot Yoga.

I discovered Bikram yoga in 2009 after years of running and other high impact activities had me constantly battling injuries. I realized right away I had found something that gave me a great workout without the accompanying pain. My devotion to the practice led me to become a certified Bikram yoga teacher in 2012. Yoga is for everybody, whether you simply want to try something new, enjoy a challenging workout, or struggle with injury, illness, or chronic disease. Through my years in the hot room, I've witnessed life changing healing. As a dialogue-driven teacher, I strive to guide students to work within their range of motion so they can improve it and enjoy functional fitness and life outside the hot room. I also completed the Inferno Hot Pilates training so that I could add this high-energy and super fun class to my resume. Whether I am teaching or taking class, I am happy and grateful to be a part of this welcoming Agoura community. When I am not in the hot room, you will likely find me enjoying the outdoors, reading, traveling, and spending time with my husband, daughter, my dogs, and my friends.

I have been teaching and practicing Bikram Yoga for over 15 fifteen years.  I have studied directly with Bikram at teacher training as well as assisted leading in posture clinics and at seminars.  I believe in this Yoga wholeheartedly and it has changed my life in numerous ways.

Erin Terzi

I discovered yoga after looking for an alternative to long distance running and soccer, which had injured my Achilles.  I was relieved to find a practice that rivaled the intensity of my previous routines and was gentle enough for me to rehabilitate and elevate my strength, flexibility, mental focus, and discipline.  That was 15 years ago.  In 2011 I became a certified Bikram Yoga teacher and joined Agoura in November 2014.  I’ve been a school teacher since 2001 and in 2007 began working with a Burmese Migrant Worker’s Education Committee to help facilitate education and fund schools in Mae Sot Thailand.  Additionally, I founded a charity in 2012 called All You Need Is Love, which supports educational projects for children marginalized by conflict and crisis on the Thai- Burma Border.  If you would like to learn more about the All You Need is Love charity, please visit this link

Yoga has given me the tools to be a better advocate for the children I love so much. It has kept me grounded and focused and reminded me to breathe.

Stephanie Brandenburg

I love the outdoors, family, animals, hiking dancing, and surfers. I am married to one :)  I have a bachelors in arts with an emphasis in environmental design. I worked 13 years doing auto cad for an architect. Some years back after months of back pain, my best friend talked me into coming to a Bikram class. After one class my back pain was gone and I was sold. Now practicing regularly, I see numerous benefits. I truly believe it is the fountain of youth. I found the strength to become a teacher after a sermon at church about "One second of courage can change your life".  I love teaching all the wonderful people I have met, and pray they heal mentally and physically.

Lila Mahar
